Having waded through days of posts, thought it might be useful to comment on the Asian version [from Taiwan, if memory serves] of the classic Tiltall. I bought one newly manufactured versions of these this summer, and have been pleased with fit and finish. No updates or revisions, it is faithful to the original[s] and a quality piece. Compared to the jazzier of the new platforms, it is kind of an M6 of a tripod, but I will admit that its traditional design and form-follows-function approach did appeal [and me an R8 guy!]. And in a quick review of the super new tripods, what I would have purchased would have been at least double. It provides a solid platform, that after using a little, becomes familiar enough to ignore and just use. And that is what I sought. I will admit that I would rather carry carbon fiber on a long hike, though. I notice that it is available through Adorama in New York at U$129.95 for the silver model, and U$139.95 for the black. Judging from the tripod's quality and comparable alternatives, I think this price represents a decent value. The only change I would make is to place foam covers over the largest caliber legs, as the aluminum used in the legs of this tripod have proved excellent heat sinks in cold weather, absolutely sucking the warmth out of ungloved hands. Hope this is useful. Enjoy the light. Greg Bicket
