 Jim,

Thanks for your comments. Of course I am not sure it is our job to protect
Leica, Nikon, Canon, et al from themselves. I do not build the lenses, I just
use them. Somehow I still have a hard time "assuming" that when I get a lense
that it is ok. These lenses cost as much as diamonds and I ABSOLUTELY would
not buy a diamond without having it checked out. Why should it be any
different here. Actually I would hope that Leica would like the scrutiny of
having their lenses checked. After all they are telling the world that they
are selling the best lense quality available. Saying is one thing proving is
another.

As far as a run on halogen lights that is not really a bad idea. Maybe
Leica, Nikon, Canon, etc will buy the most. By the way, we spent about a week
in this newsgroup talking about the best way to clean lenses. Why bother if a
speck is not a problem. Why bother - because the quality of the image starts
with the photographer but it has to go thru the lense.

Now if everyone doesn't mind I would like to end this thread. Walter, Ted
and Jim I do appreciate your input and responses. That is what newsgroups are
for. Have a great Leica weekend.

  Your LUG friend.

    Gary
