Hi Gary,

I think what started out in your "tone" was missed by what I call "e-mail"
conversation delay twist!"

In other words you start out with a mild mannered speckies question, but
before it has circumnavigated the globe, several less knowledgeable folks
have jumped in with "twisting" the original meaning / tone. And you end up
with feeling several of us are dragon slaying SOB's. WHY? it's simple, read
on.

As happens so often due to the number of posts, not to mention the number
on one subject, various opinions mounting, all it takes is reading the
"wrong one first" before getting to the original posters point.

When that occurs the reader has almost made-up his or her mind that the
subject has become a dim witted topic.  Unfortunately the original poster
stands to defend his post but by then all is lost, meaning getting wilder
as the days go on with the "original tone" losing all meaning> Other than
to the original poster.

Obvious there are the views of the "old warriors of the users road, "not
always perfect!" But it worked for us without the advantages of the LUG!
So, we old warriors learned by,  "JUST DO IT!" in modern day vernacular!

Many of us did just that, "DID IT!" Besides who were we going to ask for
advice,  shop keepers knew only about selling the gear and hardly a clue
about taking pictures or technique.

You're right about the longevity question and concerns for Leica, I share
it as deeply as yourself. I still believe this was lost due to the number
of posts no matter how well we read them, there is a saturation point and
the original meaning becomes lost.

Sorry I don't have your original posting nor do I recall it as yours.
However I recall a posting that "a friend shone a halogen light through the
lens and found speckies"  Actually the truth is I thought, "my god another
idiot test!" Hopefully I'm not referring to your post.

But as the days went on and the posts become more twisted, the original
poster feels like everyone is on the attack of their intelligence,
completely missing their original post intention.  Let me quote from your
post to me:

Now I didn't understand the reason for the above comment as we weren't
discussing Nikon or Canon, now you're talking about my ability in your
defense, simply because of my "old warrior on the road experience."   Yep,
it worked for me on many occasions. Out of the box, onto the camera, start
shooting! OK with a "hail Mary thrown in!" :)

What this indicates is how far a thread can be "e-mail twisted" over
several days by both the "old warriors" and the "not so old warriors."

I don't know about it getting on our soap box, as I liken it to standing on
my R8 with one foot and M6 with the other attempting to give some "real
world experience" to folks saving them time, frustration and worry. The
other lads and lasses who give "warrior time experience" don't do it for
something to do, we endeavor to "help!" Remember much of what we say isn't
written anywhere....yet!

It comes from the heart and attempting to give well meaning advice for
other LUGGERS like ourselves. Certainly not a put down on anyone. So when
we see something that is quite often hogwash, ____"not your post in this
case!"___ we do jump in like old time warriors who are more inclined to
jump first damn the torpedoes and stupidity.

We however unintentionally "ruffle a few feathers" simply because as in
your case, the original "tone was lost" because of heavy traffic and e-mail
twisting!

Nope can't do that even in this hostile world, simply because the lack of
trusting people has got us into more crap in this world than anything else.
Some of us still believe a hand shake of agreement is a mark of trust and
honour and as naive as that maybe, some of us have to stand, be counted and
get that meaning back before the world ends in law suits and complete
dishonesty.

What the hell does this have to do with Leica?

It means I still have blind trust in Leica.....some of you may think that's
stupid, but the Leica camera and the Leica establishment have never let me
down, so my blind trust stands! No need to even consider the question.

I trust this post helps clear the confusion over posts by the "old warriors!"
