Leica has often stated that multicoating all lens surfaces is not good. Each lens has it's own coating formula that helps it get the consistent "Leica look." Some elements are multicaoted, some single coated, some maybe not at all. But in the end it's what that particular lens formula needs, not some blanket coating on all lens elements.
