I am not an expert on optics, glass or lens coating chemistry.
Nevertheless, I suspect that among other factors, lens coating and glass
chemical composition are variables which the lens' overall color balance
may depend upon. Therefore, in the case of the Leica SLR Minolta made
lenses, Leica could specify the type of coating and could provide either
the glass or the glass composition formula on a propietary basis to
Minolta. The end result would be lenses with same color balance as other
Leica made lenses. The lens optical design could be be Minolta's or
Leica. Other type of materials used in the Leica SLR Minolta made lenses
(brass mount, bearings etc) as the QC standards could be specified by
Leica.
