It is a wonderful book. That's YOU, of course! For a day and a half, now, Mommy and I have had our own copy of Ted Grant's book, "THIS IS OUR WORK". Go to Ted's site (he lists it at the end of his posts), preview it, then, even if you think you're not interested in medical stuff, BUY IT REGARDLESS! Though this book is the quintessential coffee table book it goes beyond. It *defines* coffee table books. Beyond its size and gloss is what makes it, i.e. Ted's great B & W reportage of the medical profession practicing their art and science. The photos should be seen in a quiet environment, with time as your ally, to fully appreciate them. Punctuated by quotations from Sir William Osler, a Canadian physician from the latter part of the 19th century, it is guaranteed to tug at some emotional chords. The quotations from the past married to photos from today will keep it fresh for generations. The above, notwithstanding, is the fact that it should be in every physician's waiting room. It would be the best promotional literature imaginable. It flatters without being boastful in any way. Ted has a large amount of HCB instilled in his vision and this only serves to enhance the book in my eyes. My admiration of HCB has been nearly lifelong and seeing this in Ted's work further hardens the cement. Included are photographic notes to help answer the questions that will inevitably result from photographers. That Ted can handle his Leicas is obvious; his bringing this book to market is a tour de force! Congratulations, Ted! - -- Roger mailto:roger@beamon.org This is one of those cases in which the imagination is baffled by the facts. -- Winston Churchhill
