This kind of test is more accurate with a camera that permits stepless
shutter speeds on aperture-priority AE...simply bracket by re-setting the
ISO.   With the Leica M you can't *accurately* guage shutter speeds in
less than full stops, and changing the lens' aperture can influence
contrast and light falloff from vignetting (especially at larger
apertures)...perhaps not greatly, but it's one more thing you've got to
mentally factor out  when judging the slides.
