There's an interesting "aside" to wearing a "photojournalist vest."

In some areas, these vests have become popular with people who have permits
to carry concealed weapons - and, all too often, with others who carry
without the benefit of a CCW license.  Think about it...  They're light,
longer than waist length and are considered logical and acceptable wear,
even in the warmest climates  Thanks to a number of gun writers who have
publicized this unusual use of vests, persons wearing such vests are often
suspected of "packing" and will be stopped and questioned by authorities in
many communities.

The lesson?  If you wear a photo vest, wear a camera.
