My seven groszy-worth to the filter debate

I have a fine collection of filters with dented rings that prove just
this. Especially when our son got old enough to reach in my camera
cabinet and pull items off (it's several feet to the wooden floor).
Despite dinged filters, all lenses remain perfect. Worst case: dropping
year-old 50mm Summicron-M into a muddy puddle. Lots of TLC got the crud
out of the focusing and aperture rings, rear lens cap and UV filter kept
crud off glass. Result: lens still like new.

An argument not hitherto aired. I'm another outerwear filter-wiper

Gentlemen, I feel this concludes the filters debate
