I'd also suggest the 24.  I've used it quite a bit in the last 18 months.
Even had some of my images with it published in the LHSA Viewfinder (Basket
ladies of Charleston, and a few more in that issue's color section).  Makes a
great travel lens, and took it with me on last trip to Europe, along with a
28, two 35's, a 50 and a 75.
