How do you know until you've used it. If I was shooting primarily sports, I'd go with the 400 2.8 Canon unless I was sure of my follow focus ability. After working 50 or so hours this week, and then covering a sniper who shot and killed a cop and wounded four others, my follow focus sucked a last night's football game. I could have used AF real bad. My regular night photographer was a Lamaz class. Tomorrow we have to fill four picture pages with about 18-24 pictures of the police officer's funeral. Gotta get some sleep. But if I don't have to shoot a lot of action sports, I'd go with the Leica. As good as the Canon is, I doubt it could match the Leica.
