Greg, If you don't want the winder to cock the shutter, all you have to do is to pull away the manual lever from the body, and to cock manually. As long you don't push the lever against the camera body and don't push on the shutter release it will not cock and advance the film. Really useful, specially because the grip is much better with the winder when using big lenses. Lucien
