I am working and crying in my darkroom this week printing photographs for an exhibit in California called "Las Familias." It will consist of photographs of the families that I have photographed in Honduras over the last ten years. All of these families are now homeless. Many are still missing. They lived in the marginal areas of Honduras which are now covered by mud and water. There are no roads, bridges, crops, animals. Honduras, which was one of the poorest countries in our hemisphere, has been pushed back to the stone age. They need any help you can give. Give through the Red Cross or send financial donations to Church World Service. 475 Riverside Dr. New York NY 10115. Earmark the donation for Hurricane Mitch (appeal #976309). The most urgent need right now is money which agencies can use to get food and medical supplies to the hardest hit areas by helicopter. My first impulse was to rush to Honduras to help, but I can do more from here. We were arranging to send a medical team but our partners in Honduras have said to wait. There is no way to transport them anywhere. We are still in e-mail contact with the non-governmental agency that we support there, but expect to lose that at any time. I will post photographs on a web page later today if you would like to see the families. I don't know what else to do. Thank you for anything you can give and please excuse this interuption of the LUG.
