I'm not certain where many people shop, nor do I know the
pricing policies of shops around the world. However, the Leica dealer from
whom I buy is a small one man operation in the Boston suburbs and the
proprietor gives me the same prices as the New York City mail order houses.
True, I do pay the Massachusetts sales tax, but that is a small sur-charge
for the ability to chat about equipment, spend my time comparing items,
looking over a good stock of used equipment, and having the opportunity to
chat with other knowledgeable photographers. Also, when the lens head on my
21 came loose after two days, I took it right back to my dealer who replaced
it immediately, no questions asked, no return shipping, no hassle.

I for one am a strong believer in my local Leica dealer.
