Roger,

The problem was that they needed a challenge and developing a new motor 
for a new camera seemed the best way to go.  After all the R4,5,6,7 motor 
worked just to damn well so they wanted a new body and new motor. 

Just wait till it comes out.  You'll never miss another shot as the long 
awaited and rumored decisive moment automatic firing mechanism on the way 
(this is what is causing the hold up in the R8 motor). Once this is in 
top flight working condition it will be a MUST to own a Leica as ALL 
future Pulitzer and World Press photos will be Leica R8/Motor shots.
