What did you think of the lens vs your fixed focal lenght leica lenses? My prime lens is an R 35mm f2. Its a wonderful lens at f5.6 and f8, with extremely high contrast and resolution. This new Vario seems to have all the technical tricks. Lots of special glass. An aspheric element. Floating focusing element. But how does it add up in practice? is the contrast sacrificed? While my guess is that prime lenses are still better, the money is going into zoom lenses in the development department. You certainly see this as the priority at Canon and Nikon. With computer aided design, special glass and ashperic elements, it makes me wonder how close they are getting to primes. I would appreciate hearing a bit from those of you whom have actually shot this lens. my greetings to all! Pete Myers
