For lenses, I used a well washed LINEN table cloth for years. It was stained and my wife was going to pitch it; I had heard that linen was relatively lint free, so I took it, cut it up into foot square pieces and used pieces of it for about twenty years- just used the last of it a couple of years ago. It is, with the exception of some of the newer microfibre cloths, the best lens cloth material ever made. Cotton, even well washed will lint to some degree, though it sure beats paper towels and such! Also- for alcohol for cleaning, I go to the package store and get EVERCLEAR; it is pure USP Ethyl Alcohol. It is good for tape recorder heads, lenses, and I even used it years ago to clean and sweeten my smoking pipes! A pint goes a long way! dwpost@msn.com
