The camera says: Zeiss-Icon on the lens housing, so it is indeed German, but I believe that it was built by a different company...... The reason why she bought it is because it is very light....she had a choice between that and another Kodak...she chose the Zeiss-Icon over the Kodak simply because of it's weight! Once she started taking pictures with it, though, she realized what she had.... I believe that she has called it a Leica in the past, but there is *no* indication that it was built by Leica. Once again, sorry for the confusion...I should have checked it first.... Roger........
