The SL and SL2 had an internal TTL meter, and the second axial cam was added- these are the two 'ramp' like devices near the rear element. When the R series was started, a 'third cam' was added- it really was not a cam, but a step like affair next to one of the axial cams. Later lenses had all three, and the newest lenses have only the third cam- usually you can tell if the lenses will fit your SL as they advertise 'third cam lens' for the latest lenses only fitting the R and "three cam lens" for those with all three cams, and which will fit the SL and SL2. In any case, a quick look will tell you if you can see the lens in person! Good shooting! Dan dwpost@msn.com
