I tend to feel the same way. I of course bring my equipment on trips, and I
certainly have my share of good pictures from this year's vacation in France and
Spain, but when I do an honest assessment I also feel that the best pictures are
taken close to home--in my case Belgium (where I live) and the Netherlands
(where I spend a couple of days each week). I also think that I know the reason,
and it is quite simple: since I live here, I know the athmosphere and the places
where I can expect to find good images. And if I miss, then I can always go back
the following weekend (and I often do).
