In certain back-light situations and in case of great contrasts however, they might also cause unwanted reflections, typical for any filter. The generally recommended lens hood protects the lens from fingerprints and raindrops as well." ie; use a lens cap and lens hood for protection. Most situations for using a Noctilux fall into the backligtht and/or great contrast arena. Now just stop and think about putting "ordinary" optical glass in front of "Noctilux" glass.
