The red color in the film, and you find it even in Tri-X when developed in a 'coupling' developer like Rodinal is the remains of a leuco blue dye the absorbs the red and yellow end of the spectrum making the film panchromatic. You can totally eliminate it by soaking the film in a 'clearing' solution of 5% sodium sulfite for a few minutes. The Sodium Sulfite actually makes the wash time less! :) Dan
