The ERC of my M2 is now very much the worse for four decades of wear,
so I purchased a new M6 case. This fits OK, even with the
dual-focussing Summicron and spectacles in place, but I was surprised
to see that the strap fits to the camera carrying lugs and not to the
case.

Having seen Leicas with badly-worn lug holes, I'm not sure this is a
good idea given the mint condition of my M2. Has anyone had any
success in devising some sort of plastic covering which can go over
the wire fastener of the strap?
