An Off Topic Commentary Follows: Fortunately, the economic power of today's "mass mind" (....breeding all too many aesthetic, moral and cultural vulgarians and barbarians with defective value vision in all three core dimensions of valuation) dictates a taste level that shapes common denominator products. Until the tide changes, (until the epidemic of cultural vulgarians and barbarians burns out) those with a higher general capacity to value will need deep pockets to buy their way out of today's omnipresent trash pop culture: some of us will always prefer to buy Leica, buy Lexus, and refuse to buy today's Life Magazines of the world! If our epidemic of junk art and junk culture continues long enough a reaction will set in that may intensify some sort of class struggle, indeed, the emergence of a more activist intelligentsia-that will rival and exceed anything old Czarist Russia ever experienced- is not to be unexpected! For any thinking person our collective future holds dangerous potential as well as great possibilities! Perhaps the "cosmic-glue" having any chance of holding us together as we grow up as a civilization will be the futuristic development of a value science; or, a rational values, valuation and moral logic! Yes, a mathematics of value is possible and is now under development! The old notion that there is no explaining taste is only partly true. The value vision of today's zeitgeist or group mind, is a subject that falls well within the scope of a scientific enterprise! Yes, contemporary natural science is under attack by the same misinformed cultural vulgarians and barbarians that are actively dumbing down our collective aesthetic taste! Yes, it has all become a game of inches as to whether reason and science will ever prevail over the dark side of human nature, not to mention the development of a higher capacity to value among human beings! Clearly our run away natural science isn't enough and we need the co-play and counter-play of a science of values, valuation and morals; i.e., a Second Science!
