My wife has an RE and uses a Metz 40 MZ2. The battery problem was solved
very nicely with the Metz handle. It is a bracket that "converts" the flash
head to handle mount. The handle holds four C batteries. The flash on the
bracket is easy to handle and provides enough power for a lot of shooting.
