Well, Jim, I spent this week shooting photos to finish out one of our magazines in Shelbyville, TN. Those of you "into" Tennessee Walking Horses know this town as the home of the most prestigious ceremony/show in the industry, the Celebration. As part of the magazine I had to shoot a couple of horse farms. At one point I was almost laying on the ground shooting yearling fillies with a 24 mm elmarit. The horses were so friendly I could not use anything longer and I think I got horse snot on my lens! And when the horses turned their rear ends to me you better believe I had thoughts of Ted Grant running through my mind! I also shot the poet laureate of Tennessee, one of the most recognized embroidery artists in the state, a locally owned bank, a business that sells horse supplies & publishes two tabloid newspapers on the walking horse and saddle bred horse industries, a pencil making company, a potter whose son works for USA Today and started off at the same paper I did many eons ago, a local restaurant/cafe that still cooks hamburgers so greasy the place is thick with smoke, and adults in an adult education program...all in 2 1/2 days, all on Leica and Velvia and all lit with multiple strobes. >This past week, I sold a lens to and bought a lens from fellow LUGgers. >Wonderful people. > >What have I been doing? The past two weekends I spent in Carmel/Monterey >CA. Ran through about 20 rolls of Velvia (R7 & 100/2.8 APO) and E200 & >MS100/1000 (M6 & 35/1.4 ASPH) at various EI's. I'm also preparing for a >Workshop that I am teaching next week in San Francisco. Travel Photography >and Self Publishing. >Lecture, field trip, critique. Should be fun. I'll file a report after I'm >done. If anyone is interested. I also would love to hear your input on self publishing as I am working on finishing up a book project. Along with shooting the magazine I have been shooting this book in the evenings and on weekends and will do so through early July to try to get it rounded out. We hopefully have most of it figured out, but any help is a blessing. And I am way to aware that it is the unseen pitfalls that sink ships so to speak.
