All proceeds from the sale of the special edition camera, developed by Leica specifically for the auction, will benefit The Little Brothers of the Poor, a French charity seeking to help the world's impoverished. The unique Leica was purchased by a British private collector who wishes to remain anonymous. Cartier-Bresson, considered one of the world's most influential photojournalists, with works in museums around the world, helped found the renowned Magnum Photo agency in 1947. This is the first time he has lent his signature to a camera. The modern version of the original Leica introduced in 1925, the M6 is the standard for 35mm rangefinder cameras. Leica is one of the pioneers of 35mm photography.
