What I think might make life more interesting would be spartan, but uniquely appealing entries into M and R ownership, promoted not as stripped down models, but as a new class of cameras. Think iMac. - -Also think M and R-compatibles selling for $800 with lens (40/2.8 "pancake", sold only with the system but fully useable elsewhere). Unearth the R4s, fix the junk bits, or toss them out altogether and do a general updating. NIce, compact camera. Consider an auto-only CL/Minilux hybrid with standard M mount. DON'T do an F5 or Contax G2: They've been done, and not everyone wants one. - -No lens compatibilty hassles!! - -Better marketing follow-up including special offers and notification of local events. - -Leica Fotographie costs too much, and is kind of boring. Fix it and send a couple of samples to new owners. - -More emphasis on up-and-coming audience: Unconventional but classy looks (a vote here for deep metallic green). Tie in a love of the outdoors with spotting scope and binocular sales, too. - -Tout advantages of scanning 35mm versus buying a digital camera. - -Make home slide shows hip again (and sell more projectors) Home theater is hot, P150s fit into small rooms, so why not? Projected 35mm beats S-VHS video every time :-) Jeff - -----Original Message----- From: AJSymi <AJSymi@aol.com> >With over 600 Leica enthusiasts on this list, I'm certain Leica is listening. >So here are my requests for the new M7, as follows: > >1. Same size as the M6, but with a contoured ergonomic body. >2. Electronic shutter with 1/4000th top speed. >3. Aperature prefered exposure mode (only shutter speed info in the >viewfinder). >4. Same manual exposure mode as the M6. >5. No DX or any other auto goodies. Keep the simple spirit of the M line. > >And what ever you do, don't discontinue the M6. > >P.S - Leica employees!!!! Stop hiding, make yourself known! > >Cheers, > >Arturo >
