While it's true that the Tamron 180 isn't a high demand item, it has a fairly stable resale value these days (You'll most always be able to get $350 for a clean one). The older Leica 180 is also not a high demand lens and considering its reputation, may not be as price stable. A couple of things in the Tamrons favor are its tiny size, excellent optics and tightest minimum focus distance of any, non macro 180.
