I bought it when it beat out the 180/2.3 Angenieux I tested it against (by a good margin) and the lens is so good, it held its own against the Canon 200/1.8L, a truly great 200 I had the pleasure of owning/using. I'd recommend this lens to anyone. I've also owned the SP 300 f2.8LD in the 2nd version (green). This lens was very good but not up to the standard of either the EOS 300/2.8 or the Tokina 300/2.8 that I owned before it. It's a good lens to have until you can save the money for the marque 300 you want but, unlike the 180, you wont miss this one as much when its gone. Maybe the newer grey one is a lot better but, were it me, in this length, I'd buy the Tokina (if its available in a mount you can use). The Tokina was alot closer to the superb quality the Canon lens offered. Danny Gonzalez
