LUGs,

Thanks to all who responded so promptly to my urgent call for help.

I ended up adapting a combination of suggestions:  Carl's single
large umbrella for the main light and Eric's and David's window for
fill - the foamcore was in the car just in case.  I adjusted the 
light to subject distance to give me f/5.6 and the natural light 
metered out at between f/2.8 & f/4.  The subjects were placed about 
four feet in front of plain light colored wall.

I just picked the prints from the local one-hour place & they look
fine - technically.  As Carl experienced with the Fulbright
recipients, I was in a bit of a time crunch and did not have the 
opportunity to fine-tune for each subject.
