In the early production runs it was made with both screw mount and bayonet mount. Originally, the lens was finished in chrome with a black vulcanite band near the bayonet mount. The newer versions were finished in black chrome. (Leica Pocket Book,Hove, 1980). More detail is given in the 1975 Leica Product Directory. Elmarit:Triplet design, 5 elements in 3 groups.
