Francesco - all you do is point the dome at the camera position - not at
what _you_ think the light source might be. Taking your example, the sun is
a point source which causes an awful lot of reflected light from various
sources on the ground.

The essence of incident light metering is that it will quickly and simply
average _all_ the light sources for you.

If you're still not convinced, then bracket. Most of the time the meter's
reading will give you the optimum exposure.
