During this period of time, the Net has opened new vistas for me to make many friends from all over the world. I have almost never met any of these friends personally but many many of them have become very close pals. It is not uncommon for these friends to send me their pictures by email as binary attachments. My young children have also learned to appreciate the great potential available on the Internet. So very often, they have exclaimed, "Daddy, your friend has sent you another picture. Let's see it!" We would open these attachments and enjoy the pictures, talk about the people that we have never met, and learn a little more about the rest of the world which we have never seen. When 'bill&mon.jpg' was sent on that day, to my horror, I hardly had enough time to EXIT from Eudora Light. Parenting is a tremendous responsibility and a high calling. Children learn by example and perhaps only by example. The right to instruct, discipline, teach and even to preach to children is often painstakingly earned. Young children should never see that their daddies are receiving pictures like 'bill&mon' from their "friends." The right to freedom of speech and expression is great achievement. To be able to exercise this right responsibly is even greater achievement. Dan K.
