Contrast itself can enhance the perception of sharpness. There are pros and cons between the 2.0 and the 2.8 lens. Given the choice, I like the pics that I get from the 2.0 and I would not hesitate to use it wide open, like my Noctilux. When travelling, I would take my 2.8 and be careful not to have too much back light which will cause the Tele Elmarit to flare. Dan K.
