This isn't true with the M6 whose frame lines also move on the diagonal but the horizontal adjustment is changed slightly when ever you alter the vert- ical. As your focus is dependent on the horizontal alignment, it is best left to a competant service man to adjust, as he will have the proper equipment to do the job right. Leica states that the rf alignment on the M6 is one of the most critical adjustments even though it can be done in 5 minutes by a Leica Service man. Marvin ========================================================= In a message dated 98-03-24 19:34:44 EST, you write: << When I set almost any of my M lenses at infinity, the rangefinder shows objects at infinity to be just ever so slightly out of alignment. I mean really slightly. This happens with both of my M6s (one standard, one HM), as well as my Mamiya 7 and an old Canon G-III rangefinder I've had for ages. My friend's M6 does the same thing. Is this just normal for rangefinder cameras? And if so, what do you trust for an infinity shot -- the lens set at infinity, or backing off the focus just a bit to line up the ghost images in the rangefinder patch? --Jim Laurel >>
