The guy who bought the engraving machine and the collector are entirely different people. As far as these passing the "test of Eric," you know something, I don't give a rat's ass. Stephen Gandy ====================================================== >> Anyone can buy an engraving machine and only needs an old top-plate for a template & a pantogragh to re-engrave a new one. As I posted a while back, Leica, NJ engraved a blank top-plate that I had acquired to replace a defaced rare M2R for a total cost of $56 plus giving up the old one.--- Of course it cost me $250 for the new top but came with all new knobs & gizmos and was part of a GSA sale of over 30 new plates that were made for spare M2S Leicas. I ended up with an almost new M2R. Marvin Moss
