fact that Leitz Wetzlar gave Midland many 100s of blank top plates to
engrave with the old s/n as replacements for the IIIf & IIIg cameras that
were not selling as the Leica users wanted German made cameras when
the bought Leica in that time period. What happened to the old plates &
many of the blank new ones is still a controversial subject and this group
is not the "Erich Welch Show" rats ass or no.
