Any thoughts of how or when it went south? Could a bit of film have been caught or do you think it just smashed itself to bits? Ted, How many rolls do you have through your R8s at this point?? I only have about 20 through my own R8 - not much shooting in this terrible winter. I sure hope the R8 holds up! At times, I keep seriously considering bailing on the R system and going over to M. Or at least buying an M for a back up. Perhaps I just had a bit of bad luck, but I am still waiting on a replacment lens for the replacment lens for my R35mm f2 ROM. Its now four months since I ordered the original. So far, knock on wood, the winder seems very nice and I look forward to field testing it. I would just suggest that any one that owns an R8 and has had problems report them in here to the list so we can all take a look. BTW, Maxwell Precision Optics is still working on a fix for the grainy screen problem in the R8. Nil's at Leica USA said that he would ship out an R4 screen to see if it would help. Any one had any experience with the Contax RTS III screens with microprism focus aides? Its kind of apples to oranges, but does it look less 'gritty' then the R8 screens? We are looking for donner screens from other camera systems. Tina, best of luck on the repairs. I would call Brenda Olesin at Leica USA and see what they can do for you. I would suggest that they should trade you for a new body, rather then trouble you with the delays for a repair. Pete Myers
