I need someone to suggest >me a good pair of binocular. Basically it's for scenics on the train. Light weight and rigidness is very important to me. <snip> Tony, You have some real choices to make here. 1. The most compact and rigid binocular will be the 8X20 Leicas. They're small, lightweight and easy to hand hold. They'll fit in your shirt pocket or in a small pouch in your camera bag. 2. The next choice will be for more light gathering power with the 8X32 Leica binoculars. They focus very close (about 10 feet), have wonderfully clear optics and are still compact. 3. The third choice is to consider the 10X30 stabilized Canon binoculars. I never thought I'd say that but I've got them and they are very special for viewing objects when you are moving - like on a train. They will neutralize your movement and the train's movement. If your hands shake - even a little- you will fall in love with these small sized binoculars. Have a good trip. Richard Clompus
