Why? because that is how long it takes the shutter slit (at higher speeds) to cross the image, thus your camera had better be steady for all that time. >> Dennis - a perceptive comment. It actually advocates for the use of a tripod for achieving ultimately sharp photos. It supports what Erwin keeps telling us about the need to use a tripod if one wishes to truely test the sharpness of a lens. Tom Shea
