John,

     When you make your choice of lense, do not forget that the 50mm
Summicron focuses to .7 meter (unless it is an early chrome one, how many
versions guys?) but the rangefinder of the M3 only covers distances to one
meter.  The Summilux focuses to one meter (unless it is the newer version).
My choice would be the Summilux.  Then again it very much depends on the
type of photography you do!
