It is definitely worth the $1300 for the LS-1000 if quality if of great importance to you. I have heard though, that the Polaroid 35 Plus is even better at capturing shadow detail than the LS-1000, which amazes me.......there is an article in this issue of Leica Fotografie (1/98) on 35mm scanning, and they review the Polaroid scanners quite favorably.
