I was curious about a number of "Leica" microscopes being sold in the Edmund Scientific catalog; some of which are pretty inexpensive, and did not look like any Leica or Wild product that I had ever seen. A number of pricey roof prism binoculars and even a brass telescope have shown up under the Baush & Lomb brand name, and I always had wondered what the story was behind these. I did get the opportunity to try out Wild and Wild Leitz-branded stereoscopic microscopes, and was much impressed with these low-magnification beauties. These particular units were set up for critical inspection of SMD assemblies, but such a large working area and distance would've made them wonderful for home use, and no doubt, they could be used as deluxe loupes :-) Jeff - -----Original Message----- From: thibault collin <tc-lnc@u-picardie.fr> >Hey luggers, >By the way, do you know that leica glass is made in France, around >Fontainebleau, 50 km south from Paris! >Leica AG just bought the Bausch and Lomb company.
