"Spin the Ring" works like this in the event you've never heard of it or never tried it. Be warned!! You can go through some heavy duty rolls of film doing this. :) You determine the correct exposure then with the camera on motor drive (tough for us R8'ers) and preferrably on tripod, fire the whole roll. As you do this you turn the aperture ring to full open and back to fully closed before you get to frame 36!:) Hey I didn't say there wasn't any work in this! And yes very quickly through the click stops. Now that accounts for some high film roll counts by a few photographers I know! :) But the beauty of this has to be learned, simply because most photogrpahers do not bracket sufficiently and rely on the meter giving them the "correct exposure" then shoot 1 frame 1/2 under, 1 frame 1 stop under. What you have to understand is, that some of the images you have seen over the years and ooo'd and awwwwwwweed over were three stops under! And nobody in their right mind usually brackests that widely. So spinning the ring quite often produces images that when you look at them on the light table, you are so excited you'll pee your pants! It has nothing to do with being a waste of film, but having a creative thought process to see "what the hell will it look like?" And quite frankly no matter how much you say, "well it'll be 3 or 4 stops under exposed and or 3 or 4 stops over and I'll throw it away!" You may well be very pleasantly surprised that you now look like the leader of the picture shooting pack! And all because you blew through a roll in about 3.5 seconds and every frame looks pretty different. And. Oh yeah, you'll throw lots of them away! But the keepers will make you look like you "really know what your doing, therefore allowing you to double your shootings fees! :) Stick with me kid, you'll either end up wearing handcuffs or laughing all the way to the bank! :) And single malt scotch is the only answer! Oh yes and a motor for the R8 would be helpful. ted
