Our comment was, "did you notice how nearly all these guys shot on overcast or soft light days?" They never shot on bright sunny days! Or it seems that way on the overall. And now what you have pointed out is true. We'll go through a number of books from the "re-knowned shooters" just to see if it holds true in the majority of their work. It is a very interesting point. More so, as it being something we had discussed only last week about lighting from those eras. ted
