Ah, but that is absolutely the wrong lens to make that point. Even though
the Canon 50mm 1.0 lens is of the same nominal speed, it's attached to an
SLR. It's massive, more expensive (used to be anyway) and on top of it all,
it doesn't have a rangefinder focusing it. All strikes against it.

All 1.2 lenses are slower, and when shooting in hail-Mary light, that can
make or break a picture. It'd be nice if there was an electronic shutter to
fine-tune exposures down in those low levels, but heck, it's really the
only game in town for that performance. It tames wildly varying contrasts
with a special quality other fast lenses (even Leica fast lenses) don't have.

I can't think of another Leica lens that is as unique. I look forward to
owning one.
