Tom Shea >> The material that I got with my 55mm f/2.8 Micro Nikkor several years ago said that non micro (or nonmacro) lenses are designed to optimized characteristics, that is, minimize abberations, when focused at infinity, but that the Micro Nikkor is designed to minimize abberations when focused at 1.0 meter from the film plane. That tells me that it does a better job when used as a micro lens than a normal lense mounted on a bellows or extension tube and used to take macro photos. Charlie
