Yes, you lose some quality. There' s no way around it. Introduce any glass not in the lens' formula, and it's cuts image quality. You have to decide which is more important. Absolute best performance or protection for the front element. Nobody says you have to keep it on all the time. I don't use one on my ASPH 35 Summilux, but I do on my 75 Summilux, most of the time. Or a Polarizer on the 75.
