Though I think the M6 makes the kind of shooting he's talking about more intuitive, quicker and just plain fun! What I think about "confronting directly" with an M6 is that you're not looking through the lens. it's more like looking directly at the subject. There's less of a barrier between you and the subject as far as the camera goes. Where an SLR abstracts the subject more and makes it more two-dimensional on the screen. The M6 is a more natural way of shooting, but there are times when natural doesn't get the job done, and an SLR is a better choice. Which is why I swing both ways (When it comes to cameras!
